Man denies six drugs charges
FACING six drugs charges, a Penzance man with no fixed address in the town pleaded not guilty when he appeared before Truro magistrates.Jay Daniel, 27, is charged with two offences of possessing cocaine and ketamine with intent to supply and offering to supply cocaine, amphetamine and ketamine, all at Penzance during November.His case was sent to Truro Crown Court for a hearing on August 23.

AFTER receiving a report that a driver was suspected of being under the influence of drink, police searched the Carbis Bay area and found him. Lee Brian Jones, 35, aged Plymouth, pleaded guilty at Truro Magistrates' Court to driving while more than twice the limit, at 78mcg alcohol in breath.He had a previous conviction for a similar offence.Jones was fined £400 with £125 in costs and surcharge and banned from driving for 18 months.

A PENZANCE man will stand trial at Crown court on three charges after entering no pleas when he appeared before Truro magistrates.John Stephen McNally, aged 32, of Penare Road, faces charges of affray, causing criminal damage to Penwith Housing Association property and assaulting Andrew Etchells by beating him, all alleged to have taken place at Penzance on March 3.The case was sent to Truro Crown Court for a hearing on June 28 and bail was granted with conditions.

A CASE in which a St Erth man is charged with causing unnecessary suffering to a cat by firing an air rifle has been adjourned again by Truro magistrates pending the completion of a gun expert's report wanted by the defence.Andrew James Perkin, aged 41, of Boscarnek, St Erth, is charged with shooting at a cat and recklessly firing an airgun at a place likely to hit the cat, at St Erth on September 3.The case was adjourned until June 4.

Newquay police dealt with two crimes every day
NEWQUAY Police dealt with more than two crimes every day between May 1, 2012, and April 30 this year, new statistics have revealed.
There were a total of 930 crimes recorded in the resort, including seven counts of possession of weapons, four instances of drugs trafficking and 13 sexual offences.
The most common were theft, at 202, violence causing injury (142), and criminal damage (129).
