Fire crews were called to deal with a shed fire in the West Tolgus area of Camborne last night. Crews from Redruth and Camborne were later joined by a unit from Helston and were forced to use two sets of breathing apparatus and two hosereels to tackle the blaze. The fire was started when an arsonist set light to a large quantity of tyres at around 7pm.

Over the past month thieves have carried out five attempted and actual thefts of granite mushrooms from the homes of people in the Redruth area. POLICE are appealing for information after petrol was stolen from a parked car in Portreath. The incident took place between 5pm Wednesday May 7 and 7am Thursday May 8 while it was parked overnight on Lighthouse Hill. The car had its petrol cap broken and fuel siphoned out.
