A FORMER heroin addict from Falmouth and serial shoplifter has been spared jail after the court heard he had managed to stop taking the Class A drug. In November, Karl Flanagan admitted committing 50 shoplifting offences between April and August last year taking items worth about £20,000 including clothes, cosmetics and alcohol from local stores. At Truro Crown Court, the 31-year-old was given a deferred sentence and ordered to stop taking drugs and stealing.
