Shoplifters only had 56p

TWO shoplifters who stole DVDs and food from Tesco at Pool worth £80.09 only had 56p between them, Truro magistrates heard.Barry Michael Hardman, 23, of Croft Common, Troon, and Steven Williams, 29, of New Street, Troon, pleaded guilty to joint theft on February 11.Fred Howell, their solicitor, said they apologised and would have sold the goods to buy food. Each was given a conditional discharge for a year and told to pay £57.50 costs and surcharge.
